Sunday, Jan. 27 at 9:30 — What is God calling Grace Church to be and to do?

Join the parish-wide conversation, as we do some reflection and planning on the blessings and the work of Grace Church. The more of us who participate, the better the conversation, the more imaginative the planning, the more effective the results. We’ll hear the word of God, sing some hymns, do a lot of talking and sharing, and end with communion — all in the comfort of the parish hall.

We’ll need extra snacks during, so consider bringing something to share.

For a preview, check out the introduction to asset-mapping here, and for further inspiration, a personal asset starter that you can use in our church conversation, and in your own life.

We’re following a great precedent hosting this wide-ranging conversation as part of our worship service. Our Gospel this week says it all. Jesus walked into his own home-town synagogue citing the prophet Isaiah:

“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me,
because he has anointed me
to bring good news to the poor.
He has sent me to proclaim release to the captives
and recovery of sight to the blind,
to let the oppressed go free,
to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.”

And he rolled up the scroll, gave it back to the attendant, and sat down. The eyes of all in the synagogue were fixed on him. Then he began to say to them, “Today this scripture has been fulfilled in your hearing.”

You know the Spirit has always led Grace Church. Let’s find out where it’s going next.
